1993 – The 3rd Championship and the Retirement

A special year in deed.

The Bulls get their 3rd Championship in a row vs. the Phoenix Suns and Charles Barkley!

Michael Jordan is the greatest player on the planet as he has received his 3rd Playoff’s MVP!

Fleer has 6 cards of Michael.

Hoops has 5 cards, and celebrates it’s 5th anniversary with what they call a “gold” card. These cards are inserted in packs and have a gold seal to parallel the regular cards.

SkyBox has 6 cards.

The big news this year is Topps. They have two big ideas:
1) They add a brand called “Finest”. In the packs they add cards called “Refractors”. The refractors photos looks like any other card in the regular series; however the cards front picture has a special reflective / rainbow like gloss and makes the card shine. Collectors love the look of the cards. Topps limits the number of refractors in packs. Collectors love opening packs in the hopes to find a “refractor”.
2) Stadium Club adds a parallel to the regular cards called a “First Day Issue” card. The First Day Issue card is identified by a silver box emblem imbedded in the upper front photo that says “1st Day Issue” in the box.

Topps also has a regular and gold version of its cards.

Ultra has 1 regular card and 6 inserts to find in packs.

Upper Deck goes crazy producing 35+ cards of MJ.

On October 6th he announces his RETIREMENT from Basketball !!!!
